One legend of Life photographs another

For someone as vivacious and iconic as Carole Lombard, her cover portrait on the Oct. 17, 1938 issue of Life magazine appears strangely subdued. It's a different side of the star, captured by one of the 20th century's most celebrated photographers -- Alfred Eisenstaedt, along with arguably his most renowned photo, from 1945:

Here's the Lombard cover photo in full.

Two other vintage silver gelatin Lombard portraits from Eisenstaedt (who had more than 90 Life covers) are now available from eBay...but be prepared, each will cost you a four-digit sum. Nevertheless, it's free to look, so let's do so.

First up, Carole on her scooter at the Selznick-International lot in Culver City, a photo that made Life's Lombard story (lower right-hand corner of the page):

Here's the front of the photo as Eisenstaedt took it:

And the back. (There is more marking on the verso, but the seller has deleted them.)

This sells for $3,500 -- which can be bought for $169 for 24 months -- or you can choose to make an offer. The other photo wasn't used by Life, but nonetheless is stunning, Carole in her serene beauty.

It's a 10" x 8" print, and a 17" x 14" mat:

And the verso:

This one goes for $4,500 (or $217/mo for 24 months), and also has the "make offer" option. The info can be found at https://www.ebay.com/itm/Alfred-EISENSTAEDT-Carole-Lombard-for-LIFE-Magazine-1938-PIX-VINTAGE-STAMPED/223460387704?hash=item340746eb78:g:U5YAAOSwW0tcaaj9.
