It's fairly easy to determine when this picture was taken -- in mid-1931, just after Lombard had married William Powell (and look at her face...she's absolutely beaming over being a bride), just before they sailed off to Hawaii for their honeymoon. This photo was issued by Paramount, for whom both Lombard and Powell then worked, as was this publicity still:
The question is: Who's with them in the group shot?
At second from left, it's pretty simple -- that's Carole's mother, Elizabeth Peters. One guesses that at extreme right are Powell's parents (remember, he was only 38 at the time of his marriage to Lombard). But who are the others? Any clues?
Oh, and to give credit where credit is due, I spotted this photo recently at a charming LiveJournal community, "It'll Take The Snap Out Of Your Garters!" in which amyjeanne holds forth on all sorts of fascinating topics, mostly on pre-Code and the era between the two world wars. It's always worth checking out. The entry this came from is http://amy-jeanne.livejournal.com/170463.html#cutid1
