Happy 97th, Ms. Harlow!

Today we remember the birth anniversary of one of Carole Lombard's good friends in the industry. She was a wonderful presence who evolved into a pretty good actress, particularly in comedies.

From all accounts, she was a genuinely nice person; like Lombard, she was beloved by people she worked with, and like Lombard, she left us much too soon.

We remember Jean Harlow, whom noted film writer James Harvey once accurately described as "the most intensely likable of all the 'sex symbols.'"
