Location of the Former Palomar Ballroom

"As for the site, it's now home to a supermarket..."

While you've identified the correct intersection (3rd and Vermont) as the location of the Palomar Ballroom, it actually wasn't on the side of the street where Vons is today. It was on the Western side of Vermont as odd numbers in Los Angeles are on the West side of N/S streets and on the North side of E/W streets. This means the Palomar Ballroom was located approximately where the strip mall containing Island Pacific Seafood Market is located today.

Thank you for the clarification.

Re: Location of the Former Palomar Ballroom

Actually it was where Vons is. Check this aerial from 1929 placed side by side with a current shot: http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/7884/111bimini3rdvermontcomp.jpg

The Palomar is the building with the sideways "V" shadow on it, and the Bimini Baths and Rayfield apartment building lie just north of it.

Re: Location of the Former Palomar Ballroom

You are right! So it was there on the North-East corner of Vermont/3rd st.

Thank you for figuring this out!
