More Lombard for auction

How'd you like to have that beautiful one-sheet poster above, a commemorative of one of Carole Lombard's career triumphs? Well, the good news is it can be yours. The bad news is you'll have to pay $30,000...for starters.

It's undoubtedly the highlight of the more than 50 Lombard-related items being offered by Profiles in History, a California-based memorabilia firm which is having an auction of Hollywood items Nov. 7 and 8. According to the company, "This gorgeous poster, with lush colors and wonderful artwork, is exceedingly rare. Of the three copies known to exist, this is the only un-restored example. Possibly the only opportunity a collector may ever have to acquire this exceptional poster. Very fine/Near mint."

A bit out of your league? Then how about some original publicity stills (not reprints) in comparable shape? Bidding is somewhat more reasonable, starting at about $200 or so. They include photos from "High Voltage"...

...her first film at Paramount, "Safety In Numbers"...

...her only film with Clark Gable, "No Man Of Her Own"...

...her only excursion into films of the occult, "Supernatural"...

...the lurid jungle melodrama "White Woman"...

...and her only film with Shirley Temple, "Now And Forever."

Or, if you prefer, a good old Lombard fashion still:

If you'd like to learn more about the auction, place a bid or at least window shop, go to http://www.profilesinhistory.com/new/ and type in Carole Lombard in "search." (Many of the items have some fascinating descriptions as well.) The auction can also be viewed through eBay Live Auctions at http://members.liveauctions.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=profiles-in-history.
