Luscious Lombard, foxy Fred

Carole Lombard and Fred MacMurray made four films together, the most of any Lombard leading man. They truly had a good working chemistry...but they certainly were a great pair visually, too.

That's often forgotten when discussing MacMurray, who in his early years -- long before Disney films and "My Three Sons" -- had a handsomeness many women simply loved during the '30s and '40s.

Want proof? Take a look at this publicity still for their first film together, "Hands Across The Table":

The one adjective to best describe that photo would be "elegant." Both are in rare form. (Note, too, the label at the bottom, which states Katherine De Mille was a supporting cast member. That never happened for some reason, and I believe Astrid Allwyn wound up with the role.)

This photo, a relative rarity, is being sold at eBay for $39.99 under its "buy it now" option. It's 7 1/4" x 9 1/4" and is an original.
