I've never seen either of these poses of Carole Lombard before, so I'm sort of excited to come across it. But I'm also confused about a few things. The back of the pics, for instance:
Find that hard to read? I'll decipher it for you:
235 East 45th Street, New York City
Not to be used for advertising purposes without written permission
So what's its purpose? I'm guessing it's to illustrate two different hairstyles, but beyond that I'm drawing a blank. The seller says it's dated "2-12-31," which could refer to Feb. 12 -- but he or she is from Hamburg, Germany, which may mean the date in question is Dec. 2.
Whatever, some other particulars: It measures 8" x 10", some wear and discoloration but for the most part in good condition. And it certainly meets the seller's definition of "original" and "rare." It's now available, with bids opening at $19.95 and the auction closing at 10:01 p.m. (Eastern) Thursday.
