A lot of ('I Take This) Woman'

It's rather weird to consider that perhaps the least viewed of Carole Lombard talking features (all of which have survived) is one where her leading man is another bonafide Hollywood legend. She and Gary Cooper co-starred in the 1931 Paramount drama "I Take This Woman," and only a 16mm print that belonged to the author of the book the story was based on kept it from heading to cinematic oblivion (http://carole-and-co.livejournal.com/45444.html).

Over the past dozen years or so following its restoration, "I Take This Woman" occasionally has been shown at revival houses and the like, but it's yet to appear on television (dear Turner Classic Movies: please find a way to obtain the rights!) or make its way to DVD. More's the pity, because who wouldn't want to see a pre-Code teaming of Carole and Coop?

As a result, it's perversely easier to collect vintage images from the film than to actually see it. And six "I Take This Woman" stills currently are on sale at eBay, including the one above for $59.99 (no one said they'd come cheaply). Learn more about it at http://www.ebay.com/itm/1931-CAROLE-LOMBARD-GARY-COOPER-IN-I-TAKE-THIS-WOMAN-VINTAGE-ORIGINAL-PHOTO-/161247311763?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item258b16b793.

The most expensive of the six is this shot of Lombard in equestrian gear, taken by Paramount staffer Earl Crowley and selling for $74.99 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/1931-CAROLE-LOMBARD-IN-I-TAKE-THIS-WOMAN-VINTAGE-ORIGINAL-PHOTO-BY-CROWLEY-/151252446015?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2337592b3f):

Two others are from the estate of John R. Lebold, a one-time assistant to Paramount designer Edith Head and an avid memorabilia director:
