Carole Lombard is nearing the top prize at the 2013 Favorite Classic Movie Actress Tourney. As of 8 p.m. (Eastern) Friday, Lombard had extended her lead over Bette Davis in the finals to a surprising 51-22, outpolling Davis 11-6 over the previous 24 hours. With the title match ending Sunday, she seems in good shape...but there's no time for Team Carole to be complacent. That portrait above is Paramount p1202-167, taken sometime in 1931 (and an image I've never seen before). It's one of two photos from the Lester Glassner collection now available through eBay. This measures 7 3/4" x 10" (slightly trimmed), and is linen-backed. There is light wear, but it's in excellent to mint condition.
The photo is being sold for $125 under eBay's "buy it now" policy. Interested? Find out more at http://www.ebay.com/itm/CAROLE-LOMBARD-original-movie-GLAMOUR-photo-1930s-/370791592558?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5654e6b26e.
There's no information on the back of the photo, so we don't know who took it. That's not true for the next image, though you have to check for teeny-tiny type in the lower left-hand corner:
It's from Otto Dyar, one of Paramount's portrait mainstays, and from the back we see this particular copy arrived in the library of Photoplay in January 1933. (The date must refer to its arrival, since a check of that month's issue showed it didn't appear.)
It's in similarly good condition, and is also selling for $125. More can be found at http://www.ebay.com/itm/CAROLE-LOMBARD-original-movie-GLAMOUR-photo-1930s-/330902461057?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d0b52da81.
