One for the book
Every now and then, I'm asked about books on Carole Lombard. One of them I recommend is a paperback, "Gable & Lombard & Powell & Harlow," by Joe Morella and Edward Z. Epstein.

Issued in the mid-seventies, when there was a revival of interest in Clark and Carole (http://community.livejournal.com/carole_and_co/83690.html), I've previously described the book as "a bit juicy, yet better than one would believe." And that it is; it isn't meaty enough to qualify as a definitive biography of any of its subjects, but it's nonetheless well-written and generally accurate. All in all, a good complement to anyone's Lombard library.
And it's been out of print for a long time, so to find a copy, you have to scour all your local used bookstores. Or, better yet, go to eBay.
A copy of the book, which has 272 pages and many photos, is now being auctioned. As of this writing, one bid has been made, for $4.99; bidding continues through just after 7 p.m. Sunday (Eastern). If you're interested, go to http://cgi.ebay.com/Clark-GABLE-Carole-LOMBARD-William-POWELL-Jean-HARLOW_W0QQitemZ310081889633QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item310081889633&_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A1%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
It's a breezy biography worth investigating by any Lombard fan.
