Pardon my Sarony

Imagine receiving this in the mail:

Yep -- Carole Lombard showing lots of leg...and thigh...and beyond. And assuming the postman had any kind of libido, he would've enjoyed viewing it, too. He definitely would've seen it, because it was a postcard, from the era when many such cards featured film star images. Lombard appeared in her share of them (, but I doubt any of them had more sex appeal than this one.

This is from the British Sarony series of postcards, and the person selling it says it's from the late 1920s; to me, it looks as if it might be a bit later, say 1930 or even early '31. Yes, the card labels her as "Carol," not "Carole," but "Fast And Loose" -- the film in which legend has it she added the "e" to her first name -- wasn't released in the U.S. until November 1930, and probably didn't reach Great Britain until sometime in 1931. Also, the "writing" clearly isn't hers; in fact, it looks to be some kind of printed script font.

The card, unused, measures 5 1/2" by 3 1/2" and is in very good to mint condition. If you'd like to know more about or are interested in bidding, go to Bidding begins at $14.99 (none yet as of this writing) and continues through Saturday afternoon Eastern.
