Today, 67 years ago...

...Carole Lombard made what would be her final public appearance, returning to her home state of Indiana, first selling war bonds at the state capitol, then visiting the Cadle Tabernacle for the first bond rally of World War II. Like today, it was a Thursday.

We've looked at this event in the past. But I thought it would be a fitting tribute to Carole to once again run many of the photos taken that day.







Lombard sold $2,107,513 worth of government bonds that day -- well above what was expected. It was a triumph that soon turned to tragedy.
