It's sometime in 1929, and Carole Lombard, a requisite cloche atop her head, appears ready to face the chilly world in a stunning coat -- and speaking of stunning, check out those shoes. Here they are in close-up:
Would that footwear still be fashionable today? The image, new to me until today, has been viewed at a few other sites...and met with public approval. The pic is Pathe cl-176, which I'm guessing was shot in mid-summer of '29. We know it's Pathe, since the "e" in Lombard's first name is omitted.
This photo, like so many others we've seen of Carole, is courtesy of the George Smoots collection. It's 8" x 10", is said to be in excellent condition on glossy single-weight paper stock, and is up for auction.
Bidding begins at $39.99, with the auction ending at 10:52 p.m. (Eastern) Sunday. You can place a bid by going to https://www.ebay.com/itm/CAROLE-LOMBARD-in-FLAPPER-STYLE-Original-Vintage-1920s-PATHE-PORTRAIT-Photo/373354846930?hash=item56edaedad2:g:fi8AAOSw9IZft~i~.
