-- "Heat Wave," Irving Berlin
Here in the eastern U.S., the temperatures are indeed risin', it isn't surprisin'. (I love Ethel Waters' version of this song.) So naturally, many of us are trying to beat the heat by getting into the water.
About a year ago, in one of the first entries at "Carole & Co.", I ran several pictures of Carole Lombard wearing swimsuits (http://community.livejournal.com/carole_and_co/1119.html). Well, here are a few more of Lombard in swimwear, for your enjoyment:
Now I'm sure many of you are aware of this picture, as it's fairly common among collectors:
Well, here's a much rarer photo of Carole in the same outfit, possibly from the same session. (The above has a P1202 number of 1071, the one below is P1202-1080.)
This next one doesn't show Lombard in a swimsuit, though she likely has one on underneath. It's taken in front of the pool at her Hollywood Boulevard house, home to many a memorable party:
You'll note something all the above pics have in common: none of them show Carole actually in the water. That will be remedied in the final pic, although it's not in a pool, but in a lake -- Lake Arrowhead, to be precise, in a scene from her final Paramount film, "True Confession":
Hope these photos cooled you off, though for some, they may have had the opposite effect.
