Not just the ad...the entire issue

In Sunday's entry (https://carole-and-co.livejournal.com/1072215.html), we noted several pages of an ad for Carole Lombard's "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" were available. We weren't completely sure of the source, but now we know of at least one place where it ran...

...the trade magazine Motion Picture Herald, for Feb. 1, 1941.

It too is being auctioned at eBay, and arguably for a lower price. Whereas the separated pages still have an opening bid of $39.99, with the auction closing Friday (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hitchcocks-MR-MRS-SMITH-Carole-Lombard-Ad-from-Campaing-Book-1941/303495948608?hash=item46a9c4a940:g:N30AAOSwVDJeUGyo), the Herald book in its entirety has an initial bid of $14.99. Plus look at what else you'll get. Ads for:

RKO pushing the success of its "Kitty Foyle," some weeks before Ginger Rogers won the best actress Oscar...

..."Gone With The Wind," the "Star Wars" of its day, still going strong more than 13 months into its release, much to the delight of distributor MGM...

...the star-studded romance "So Ends Our Night"...

...20th Century-Fox promoting Charley Grapewin in its adaptation of "Tobacco Road"...

...and the 1938 French drama "The Baker's Wife," which won awards in America while France was under Nazi German occupation.

The issue is in good condition overall. The auction will end at 10:01 p.m. (Eastern) Sunday.
