Literally lots of Loretta (part 2)

While we have no photographic proof Carole Lombard and Loretta Young ever met, the latter did autograph a picture for the former when Lombard served as guest editor of the April 1936 Screen Book. (To my Facebook friend Linda Lewis, Loretta's daughter-in-law: Did Lombard's name ever come up during your many conversations with her, perhaps when one of her films came on TV? If so, what'd she have to say about her?)

Yesterday's entry explored some of the many items from Young's estate, available a week from tomorrow at Julien's Auctions (https://carole-and-co.livejournal.com/1039068.html). Today, we'll examine some others.

For example, an autographed copy of Loretta on the cover of a 1995 issue of Palm Springs Life. (The "smashing entrance" reference is to Young's fashionably famed introductions on the 1950s TV anthology "The Loretta Young Show,")

Young appeared on the cover of the Sunday supplement Parade in March 1960, wearing a leopard print hat (those were different times). Here's a copy of the magazine, plus the cover photo in both color and black-and-white:

More than 13 1/2 years earlier (Aug. 12, 1946), Loretta graced the cover of Life magazine, then at its apex as a barometer of American popular culture. We even have a publicity still of Young reading the issue.

Like many celebrities, Loretta spent plenty of time in New York, and among her favorite destinations was the fabled "21" Club. Here's a tablecloth from that famed Manhattan venue:
