Horsing around on her ranch

Even before marrying Clark Gable, Carole Lombard was attracted to farm life. In 1937, she found a ranch in the San Fernando Valley where she kept her beloved Palomino gelding mare Pico, and discovered it was also a good refuge from hectic Hollywood.

Now, three samples of bucolic Carole -- all original publicity photos -- are on sale as a group at eBay. First, p1202-1545:

Next, p1202-1554:

Finally, p1202-1576:

We have two snipes from the photos, but I'm not sure which goes with what:

We've since learned from the seller "Down on the farm" goes with p1202-1545, while the other is with both pics of Pico. (I think I've seen that on other pics of Carole and Pico from this session.)

These pics were designed to promote her upcoming Paramount release "True Confession" and clearly have nothing to do with the film.

You can buy the trio of pictures for $32.75, or make an offer. Find out more at https://www.ebay.com/itm/Carole-Lombard-Lot-of-3-8x10-True-Confession-Publicity-Photos-Paramount-1937/174050481217?hash=item2886379441:g:PEQAAOSwAchdlBAV.

Horse Info:

A "gelding" is a castrated male; there is no such creature as a "gelding mare" -- in other words, Pico had a pee-pee.

Cheers,

So Pico was male?

You know more about Lombard than I do, so clarify that for me, please.
