'Modern' art, but not really 'mid-century'

In the mid-1930s, Carole Lombard posed for this portrait by Azalia Newman, wife of director Rouben Mamoulian ("Queen Christina," "Silk Stockings"). Years after Carole's death, she again was an artist's subject, this time in the "pop art" style:

While this acrylic-on-linen painting is defined as "mid-century modern," this actually was made in 1989:

It measures a whopping 34 5/8" x 28 3/4" and is deemed in "good" condition. Here are several more views of the portrait:

For completists, a view of the back of the frame:

The painting is listed at $1,530, 15 percent off its earlier price. If you'd prefer to pay in installments, it's $74 monthly for 24 months. Or you can make an offer.

The sale continues for slightly more than a week.
