Throughout her roughly decade and a half in the film industry, Carole Lombard was blessed to work with some of its greatest portrait photographers. One of them was Clarence Sinclair Bull, longtime MGM photographer and Greta Garbo's favorite.
Lombard and Bull apparently had only one collaboration of note -- when Carole was loaned out to Leo's lair for a gangster comedy initially named "Repeal" (after the end of Prohibition) and later called "The Gay Bride." While the film itself wasn't all that good (Lombard later called it the worst of her career, but it wasn't as bad as she claimed), several lovely portraits did result from the Carole-Clarence teaming, and here's one of them:

Pretty stunning.
Finally, the title match of the 2012 Favorite Classic Movie Actress Tournament is on, pitting Ginger Rogers, who trounced Grace Kelly 184-56 in one semifinal, against Natalie Wood, who rallied for a 140-130 triumph over Judy Garland in the other. Ginger may have beaten Carole earlier, but in the spirit of '30s solidarity (or is it blonde solidarity? Maybe it's both), Lombard shows her support for Rogers.
